Hong Kong stocks end slightly up but Shanghai drops (Review)

Hong Kong stocks ended slightly higher but Shanghai retreated on Monday as data showed growth in China’s economy slowed in the second quarter.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.05 percent, or 14.22 points, to 28,539.66.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index shed 0.61 percent, or 17.14 points, to 2,814.04 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, eased 0.10 percent, or 1.61 points, to 1,602.84.

Hong Kong Stocks End Week With Gains (Review)

Hong Kong stocks ended a tough week with a small gain on Friday as traders tracked a record close on Wall Street, while there are hopes China and the United States can avoid escalating a potentially damaging trade war.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.16 percent, or 44.61 points, to 28,525.44.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.23 percent, or 6.48 points, to 2,831.18 but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, rose 0.46 percent, or 7.28 points, to 1,604.45.

Hong Kong, Shanghai Stocks Rally on Thursday (Review)

Hong Kong stocks bounced on Thursday as bargain buyers moved in after the previous day’s sharp losses, while Shanghai surged more than two percent.

The Hang Seng Index gained 0.60 percent, or 169.14 points, to 28,480.83.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 2.16 percent, or 59.89 points, to 2,837.66 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, grew 2.74 percent, or 42.55 points, to 1,597.17.
